Boston robbery infographic

This infographic is about the major art theft in history that took place in Boston, Massachusetts (USA). It talks about the description of the robbery, the location, the choosed place, the most important pieces of art robbed, the chronological sequence of events and other sixteen important art heists over time. It is an abstract infographic because despite the art pieces and the museum picture or the watch, the rest of the elements are figurative; they represent realities far away from the draws. It is quite functional because only one element is there to decorate, the brush.
The rest of it has an informative purpose and if they were removed some important data could be missed. It is quite lightness generally exceptuating maybe the two chronological sequence of events the first one about the Boston museum robbery and the second one about the most important heists over history; these at first sight can be somewhat difficult to understand but after a few seconds the total content of the infographic can be understood without difficulty.
Information is in general visually clear. It is more multidimensional because of the different treated aspects about the same topic: art thefts. The infographic is pretty original, the public is not very used to see this type of representations and the way in which chronological events are presented is not very common. Furthermore, it is quite novel because it speaks about the same topic along all its surface but the information is shown from different perspectives or sur-topics. To sum up, I personally believe that any audience can understand the information presented here because it is readily understandable, original and entertaining. In conclusion, I think it is very intelligible and shallower besides of entertaining and enjoyable to watch.

  1. Hi Judit! Your information graphic is very nice, the resources that you use to expose the information is very original and very attractive. The only point that I don't like much is the graphic about other 16 important art heists over time mixed by the chronological sequence of events. I like very much this two graphics but the mixture of this two don't because I think that the style is different and also, there's one point that are very joined. Maybe If you put the F part in another color and moved a little in order that two graphics don't joined. In general, I would like to say you that is very nice, visually attractive and comprehensive.
    Nice job!

    1. Hello Andrea! I really appreciate your considerations and explanation. Now that I have read your opinion I can realize that you are right maybe I should change colors in the F part in order to make it more related to the other sections and provide with a greater harmony the infographic.

  2. Hi Judit. I like the footstep part where the reader is taken by his hand and guided through the story. Good idea.

But I miss a clear hierarchy that could have been made with grids in Indesign. The text boxes seem to be put in randomly with no clear purpose. This results in my eyes are flickering around and I do not know where to start.

  3. Hi Judit! I really like the style you've picked up for this infographic because I think it's very coherent with the main topic. Also the title typography and the greyish and blueish colors you have picked up look very appropiated for explaining an art robbery. I also agree with Christian and I think that you should have made more clear the structure and hierarchy, especially between the footprint graphic and the right-side graphic because it seems a little bit difficult to distinguish which text belongs to whom. However, it's clear that you've made a great effort in creating this infographic!
Good job, keep on like that!
